Riparian Preserve at Water Ranch
From Top of the World to the Gilbert Water Ranch, with spots in between. A fast-paced field trip to a variety of habitats to see as many birds as we can before lunch at about 1:30. We usually tally between 65-75 species, always including a few nice surprises. We’ll start about 6:00 or 6:15am from Gilbert, head east to the oak/juniper habitat of Top of the World at about 4,500 feet elevation and work our way back to Gilbert, to bird at least 3 different habitats. Locations will be chosen right before the trip, with Oak Flat, Queen Valley, and the Gilbert Water Ranch likely. Finish about 2:30 at the Water Ranch.
Difficulty—3+, for fast pace and miles covered. Meeting place, carpooling logistics, suggested donation for gas and lunch plans will be determined a few days before the trip.
