Mt. Ord Exploration
Saturday, April 1
During migration, you never know what you might see as we travel from high desert through the chaparral to the pine forests at the top of Mount Ord. We will look for migrant species and local residents setting up territories. Expect to see: Black-chinned Sparrows, Scott’s Orioles, and Zone-tailed Hawks. Other towhees, sparrows, and warblers that typically nest in the area may also be seen, including Virginia’s, Olive, Red-faced, Grace’s, and Black-throated Gray Warblers. Acorn and Hairy Woodpeckers are likely.
Bring binoculars, field guide, water, snacks, hat, and coat since the weather can be cool at the top of the mountain. Meet at 7:00 a.m. in the back parking lot of Denny’s at 17053 Shea Boulevard, Fountain Hills.
Restrictions: All participants must be fully vaccinated.
Time: 7 A.M. – 12:30 P.M.
Limit 11.
