Tres Rios is a constructed wetland complex that recycles and recharges treated water that is discharged from the region’s largest wastewater treatment plant. There is a series of ponds which attract numerous wintering waterbirds and riparian obiligates, including ducks, geese, herons, egrets, ibises, and blackbirds that stay for the winter. There are often raptors such as Prairie or Peregrine Falcons as well as Ospreys. In addition, sightings of mammals such as bobcats and coyotes are not uncommon . Be prepared to walk as far as five miles.
